“Discover
Unusual Wedding Music Trends Now!"
|
Weddings in the past have generally followed a standard formula when it comes to music at the reception. Whether a band or DJ, the music was a mix of oldies music, reception standards and a few gimmicky songs that stamped the event as a reception (think of "Daddy's Little Girl" and "The Macarena"). Today brides and grooms are making their musical selections more personal. |
Do You Like A Particular
Style?
Theme receptions are increasingly popular, reflecting the particular interests of the happy couple. For instance, Motown music, with its wonderful mix of soul, blues and ballads provides music for dancing and relaxing. Others prefer something more "dance-able, like 1940's Swing. This music also will appeal to parents and grandparents as well as young people. It's music that really brings the generations together, which can't be said for a lot of musical styles these days.
Jazz provides an intimate backdrop for slow dancing and warm conversation if you're having a smaller reception and prefer an intimate, cozy feeling. There's something about the mellow sound of a saxophone that just wraps around a room that encourages a feeling of warmth and intimacy. Paul Shupe Productions DJs can provide this music for you.
Bringing Back the Memories
The bride and groom could also have a "back to the future" reception featuring the tunes they grew up with. A DJ that has a large collection of 70's, 80's or 90's music can recreate the flavor of an entire decade with the right mix of CDs pr MP3s. If you choose this route, you may be surprised to find many of the guests singing along with enthusiasm as they relive their younger days. If you've invited all of the guys from college and your old roommates, be sure to get your hands on the college fight song and any other memorable recordings to liven up the reception.
Do some research that will touch your parents' heartstrings as well. What was their song when they got married? One of the most touching moments at a wedding reception may be the moment when your parents and your in-laws each get a moment on the dance floor dancing to "their song."
History Repeats Itself in Music :
Having a theme wedding? Then carry the theme right into the reception. If you are having a medieval or renaissance wedding, contact a University music department to find chamber musicians who perform on instruments of the era. The unique beauty of this ancient music will make guarantee your reception is special. The same can be done if you have a Scottish or Irish wedding - contact cultural groups for information on local talent. If you are having a casual, tropical-themed wedding, try a steel drum band or perhaps guitars or ukuleles for a Hawaiian wedding. This bright, energetic music will have everyone tapping their toes and jumping up to dance.
Today's interest in cultural roots has ushered in an increasing number of culturally-themed weddings. Couples of Hispanic origin may want to honor their heritage by choosing Latino music, while African-Americans may enjoy traditional African music. Irish jigs, Scottish ballads, and a variety of other "traditional" styles of music are finding their way into wedding receptions and being enjoyed by new generations of guests as they toast the happy couple.

"First
question you should ask yourself"
Hiring
the right entertainment for your occasion is probably the most important
decision for a successful outcome of your event!
Some
people view DJs as a commodity and choose the cheapest one they can find, not
knowing the differences to look for.
I
have heard numerous horror stories
that lure in the customer with low prices, only to provide an inexperienced disk
jockey with poor people skills, an inferior music library, shoddy equipment,
poor lighting affix and they either arrive late or don't show at all, and you
can only hope they have your first dance song.
This
page will help you find the right entertainer! It could make the difference
between a memorable event and an unforgettable nightmare!
